SketchFestNYC + A Wrap on the Rap

We're in New York! We perform Saturday at 7pm on a double bill with Becky & Noelle. They are fantastic. We saw some mediocre sketch in LA last weekend, and it's groups like B & N that make me like sketch again. They do interesting things that inspire me to do new stuff with our work. When you watch them it is watching art. It is theatre. It's not just some kids who think they're funny improvisers who've decided to lock in some of their bits and throw it up without much more thought or rewrites. You can see the time and care and point of view in their work. Same for All American Push Up Party. I'm so glad we got to see them both perform in Seattle, because we're not able to actually watch them this weekend. But we will get a chance to see most of the Friday night groups and the groups that perform Saturday night after our set and we can't wait. SketchFestNYC seems to have gathered the best around and it's exciting to see all these groups who really do it well.

About the mediocre sketch we saw in LA... here is my plea to White sketch groups: PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RAP AS A SKETCH FOR THE SAKE OF RAPPING AS A SKETCH. DON'T RAP LIVE ON STAGE. DON'T DO A VIDEO OF YOUR GROUP RAPPING. PLEASE. IT ISN'T ORIGINAL. IT ISN'T FUNNY. IT DOESN'T MOVE THE ART FORWARD. PLEASE STOP. NOW. (This message does not apply if you are Adventure Club and only if you are Adventure Club. Please continue doing what you do because it is brilliant.)

Anyway, can't wait to perform, glad for this opportunity, and can't wait to once again get back home to the Chi and write some more.

Funny or Die!

We finally shot some videos and just last night they were put up on funnyordie.com and already over 100 people have watched each one. How'd they find them? Weird. Better question: Why haven't you? Go to www.funnyordie.com and enter search words: "background" for one and "bay furniture" for the second video. (For some reason entering a search for "kevINda" doesn't net any results.) And please feel free to comment.
